Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Takt Production System® for Students.
What is the Last Planner® System?
The Last Planner® System (LPS) is a collaborative production planning system for construction. Instead of pushing a top-down CPM schedule onto trades, LPS pulls commitments from the people actually doing the work superintendents, foremen, and trade partners across five connected levels: master, phase, lookahead, weekly, and daily planning. The result is reliable promises, fewer broken handoffs, and projects that finish well.
You’ll get the complete Last Planner® System in 11 focused video lessons by Jason Schroeder. Starting with a full LPS overview, you’ll walk through the 10 critical improvements most teams miss, visual planning, macro takt, pull planning, production planning, 6-week lookahead, weekly work planning, day planning, daily team huddles, and how the First Planner System® feeds into LPS. By the end, you’ll know how to plan, run, and steady a project at every level master through daily.
They work together as one production pipeline. Last Planner® drives collaborative weekly planning and reliable commitments. Takt Planning creates rhythmic flow and stability across zones and trades. Used together — with the First Planner System® upstream of both — they form the Integrated Production Control System™ (IPCS™). Lessons 4 and 11 specifically cover how LPS and Takt fit together.
inTakt is a purpose-built Takt planning tool designed for construction professionals. It lets you create takt plans in minutes through an intuitive interface, manage real-time progress in the field, and collaborate across the team on any device — desktop, tablet, or phone. It replaces messy spreadsheets and fragile schedules with a planning system built specifically for how Takt actually works on a jobsite. Try it free at intakt.app.
